The Rev. Denson F. Freeman, Jr. comes to us directly from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity on May 14, 2007. He is affectionately known to most as simply “De” or “Father De”. He was ordained to the diaconate as a transitional deacon on June 2, 2007 at Christ Church Cathedral in Mobile, Alabama and began his ministry with Church of the Epiphany soon afterward. He and his wife Stephanie have been married for fifteen years and live here in Crestview along with their two sons and a daughter (soon to be born). Stephanie is a physical therapist currently practicing in the home health system and their two boys attend schools within the Crestview school system.
De is a graduate of Foley High School, in Foley Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts and spent the next eleven years in Foley, where he managed a family owned business alongside his father and brother. While in Foley, De was a very active member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, serving the church in many ways. He was also actively involved in many civic organizations including the Foley Rotary Club, the Board of Directors for the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Foley’s Board of Adjustments and Appeals. In 2004, De and his family moved to Austin in order for De to pursue his call to ordination and work towards his Master of Divinity.
Father De was ordained to the priesthood on May 17, 2008, here at Church of the Epiphany amid our church family and friends. He continues to work alongside of us welcoming all who come, proclaiming the kingdom of God and ministering to individuals, families and those in need. |
